Bartlett Lake
Outdoor enthusiasts frequent Bartlett Lake — just 17 miles from Carefree — for a variety of recreational opportunities, including shoreline camping in Arizona’s natural desert terrain. While in this part of the Tonto National Forest, visitors may see mule deer, bald eagles, javelina, coyotes and many indigenous desert plants including the majestic saguaro, mesquite trees and blooming ocotillo.
The Grand Canyon

In fact, it’s just a 4-hour drive from Scottsdale, which makes it ideal for a day-long adventure or an easy overnighter during your next Scottsdale getaway.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park offers 114 miles of shoreline perfect for family recreation, as well as convenient amenities like a 10-lane boat ramp, 450 picnic sites, 165 campsites (ranging from tent to primitive to improved camping with full utility hookups), 14 group-use areas, four overlooks, a full-service marina equipped to handle 1,000 boats and seven miles of trails.
